Daily Sugar Cap
25g(6 tsp)
25g is the recommended daily cap for children ages 2โ18. Range adjustable from 20g (ideal target) to 40g (WHO maximum upper limit).
This cap ONLY tracks added processed sugars. Natural sugars from whole fruits, vegetables, and plain milk do NOT count toward this limit!
Official Pediatric Guidelines
- AAP & AHA: Recommend limiting added sugars to a strict cap of less than 25g (6 teaspoons) per day for ages 2 to 18 years.
- WHO: Recommends keeping free sugars below 10% of total daily intake (max 10 tsp / 40g per day), with a target of less than 5% (5 tsp / 20g per day) for optimal metabolic health.
